Scan the QR
Use the phone's network settings, not only the camera. Never share the QR; it is the eSIM itself.

Or use one-tap setup
Direct setup links work on iOS 17.4+ and Android 10+; Android setup does not work inside WhatsApp's browser.

Set the data line
Label it for travel, enable data roaming on it and keep your primary line for calls if needed.
